Quick, messy graphic to explain a concept that seems obvious to me:

  • We shouldn’t be helping women because they’re related to someone else.
  • We shouldn’t be helping women because someone else cares about them.
  • We should be helping women because they are people.
  • We should be helping women for their own sake.

Why is that a hard concept for people to grasp?

Because people are ignorant, insensitive fucks.

Problems with being a male

  • Having emotions is seen as weakness

  • Admitting weakness is seen as an even greater weakness

  • Being called a sexual deviant or a pervert because you were expressing your sexuality

  • A girl beating you in any physical competition makes you inferior

  • Being superficial makes you a pig but a woman being superficial is fine

  • Makeup isn't even an option

  • Not living up to the insanely unrealistic ideal of manhood automatically makes you gay

  • Being gay is seen as weak

  • You can't control the size of your "manhood"

  • You can't report sexual assaults because being a male victim is worse than being the rapist

  • No male specific support groups or movements

  • Unequal parental rights

  • Extreme feminists treating you less than human

  • Women can blame all men or say they are all the same but if a man blames women they're sexist pigs

  • People dismissing your problems automatically because the universe is obviously rigged in your favour in every scenario imaginable

  • No one will read this past the title

  • This is so true. Anytime you show who you truly are you're seen as weak and inferior. It's not ok to show emotion to anyone but your closest friends in today's culture. And if you don't play sports or lift 150 pounds you're seen as weak and inferior.

“This piece was primarily a trust exercise, in which she told viewers she would not move for six hours no matter what they did to her.  She placed 72 objects one could use in pleasing or destructive ways, ranging from flowers and a feather boa to a knife and a loaded pistol, on a table near her and invited the viewers to use them on her however they wanted.

Initially, Abramović said, viewers were peaceful and timid, but it escalated to violence quickly.  “The experience I learned was that … if you leave decision to the public, you can be killed… I felt really violated: they cut my clothes, stuck rose thorns in my stomach, one person aimed the gun at my head, and another took it away. It created an aggressive atmosphere. After exactly 6 hours, as planned, I stood up and started walking toward the public. Everyone ran away, escaping an actual confrontation.”

This piece revealed something terrible about humanity, similar to what Philip Zimbardo’s Stanford Prison Experiment or Stanley Milgram’s Obedience Experiment, both of which also proved how readily people will harm one another under unusual circumstances.”

This performance showed just how easy it is to dehumanize a person who doesn’t fight back, and is particularly powerful because it defies what we think we know about ourselves. I’m certain the no one reading this believes the people around him/her capable of doing such things to another human being, but this performance proves otherwise.”

this is why performance art is important

So every single person who told me ‘ignore them they’ll go away’ and ‘you can’t let them know they bothered you’ and ‘They’ll stop if they don’t see you react’ and all that bull shit, my entire school career, I want you to look good and hard at this.

I want you to think about what you said.

What you keep saying.

What you are telling your children.

You are making them powerless.

that last comment. actually crying.

This. I’ll jokingly insult my friends regularly, but if anything I say bothers them I’ll stop. If I don’t know what I’m saying is being taken seriously and hurting someone, I don’t know that I should stop. Just say something. Stand up for yourself.

i will never not reblog this.

Crazy thing is the girl in the mirror is beautiful. Not fat. She’s gorgeous.

Raise Awareness

Eating disorders are not a trend or to get attention.

Eating disorders are actual diseases that are very serious and need medical and psychological attention.

^ true. Eating disorders are very serious. forever reblog

Can I just say. This post changed my life. Up until the last gif, I kept saying “that’s exactly how I feel, except she’s actually pretty. This is why I have anorexia.” And then. The last gif. It took my breath away, it terrified me because I thought. ‘Oh god, that’s me.’ I looked down to what I saw everyday for over 4 years as fat, and I saw bones in places they shouldn’t be seen. Because of this post, I am on my way to recovery. I don’t know if I can ever truly love myself again, but I’m sure a whole lot closer.

Ugh I pinch my hips like that all the time.

Friendly reminder that people of all shapes can be beautiful…I agree that the girl in the mirror is not fat. But people who are fat are beautiful too. The important thing is not your weight, it’s your attitude.

Get out of bed, make a hot drink and go outside. You owe yourself that much. Maybe you still cry in far too many public bathrooms, but I swear, you stay a few seconds less every time. Smile at strangers if it’s all you can do, know that life doesn’t start when the sun rises or the credits roll but when you decide it’s time to go after what you deserve, and you deserve everything because we are alive both only once and a million times every day and every minute is something new to learn and someone new to love, and if it all crashes and burns as it so often does cling on to hope through it all and don’t ever ever ever let it go. Start your life again whenever you need to. Repeat after me: it is not yet the end. It is not yet the end. It is not yet the end.
